What is it?
The MacArthur Junior Thespian Troupe will be formally affiliated with the Arkansas and International Thespian Societies, which are non-profit, honorary organizations for junior high and high school students. The societies are committed to the advancement of educational theatre and are organizations in which your child can partake in theatre festivals, performances, workshops, and scholarship opportunities.
What will my student be doing?
Members of the Mac Junior Thespian Troupe will work to produce a one-act play and/or individual events which we will compete with at the Arkansas Junior Thespian Festival which will be held in Searcy on November 12th. Students will also attend theatre workshops during the festival and meet other students who have a passion for theatre. Additionally, the troupe will meet every Friday morning to rehearse, learn more about theatre, and to contribute to philanthropic events.
Who is eligible?
All7-9th grade students who met membership requirements are eligible. In order to be considered, students should submit their accumulated thespian points to Mrs. Teague at [email protected] Please visit https://www.schooltheatre.org/internationalthespiansociety/jrtroupedirectors/jrpointsystem to review the point system. Additionally, Mrs. Teague will consult with the office and teachers to confirm potential new members are maintaining grades and have no office referrals.
What are some important dates?
Aug 25th- Potential First meeting for anyone interested not in Competition Class. Friday Morning from 7:15 pm-7:45 pm- Meetings and rehearsals or Monday afternoons. Whichever will work best with the kids involved.
Sept. 11th- Thespian points are due. Send to Mrs. Teague at [email protected] (Mrs. Teague will respond with your eligibility, upon confirmation of eligibility, dues are due to the office by 9/30 of $17.)
Nov 9th. One Act Show case
Nov 10th or 11th - One Act Festival
March 4th Jr. Thespian Festival- $40 (est) (this is the base amount, one acts and individual events add to this.)
Induction dues are $17 due 9/30 (paid to Mrs. Teague)

Why should my student apply?
Being part of the Mac Junior Thespian Troupe will allow your child to have more opportunities to learn about theatre. You child will be able to meet other students who share their passion for theatre and will attend Festival this year and have the opportunity to compete in the one act Festival and individual and/or group events. Being a part of the junior troupe will also help to prepare your child for theatre and the junior high and high school levels, ultimately providing college scholarships and aiding in the college audition process.
